What is VisibleStart?
Visible Start is the first digital media training course designed for women with the industry’s most underrated qualification: life experience. We don’t care what you’ve done before, we only care what you want to do now. Over 8 weeks of online video tutorials and virtual events, we’ll introduce you to digital media, teach you the basics of marketing, media and agency roles and identify the transferable skills you have that the industry needs in abundance. We’ll build your confidence, build your network, create a community. Visibility has to start somewhere. Let’s start it together.
Who is it aimed at?
The course is for women aged 45 and over. We’re looking for women from all backgrounds and all walks of life. Our pilot course is focused on those that are within commutable distance to Central London.
Do I need any previous experience to join the course?
The answer is no! In fact, quite the opposite. We train women from the best school of all – Life!
When will I know if I’ve got a place on the course?
Your registration confirms your place on the course (congratulations!). Make sure you join our Facebook group for updates and more information.
When is the course kicking off?
The course will start at the beginning of October and run through to early December.
How long will it take?
Around 8 weeks from start to finish.
What will it involve?
A combination of virtual events on topics like transferable skills and confidence building – alongside online video tutorials covering lots of different topics about the digital media industry. We’d expect there to be around 3-4 hours learning each week.
Can I do the course around other commitments?
Yes, absolutely. You’ll be able to dip into the online video tutorials whenever you get a spare moment and we’ll be running lots of virtual events so you’ll be able to ‘zoom’ in to suit your schedule. The course is flexible, because we understand you have commitments, and accessible, because inclusivity matters.
Is there a job at the end of the course?
We’ve ring fenced 20 roles at WPP agencies in London exclusively for our graduates, but everyone will have continued mentorship and guidance and receive updates on job opportunities at our partner companies as they come up after the course is over.
Is it virtual or in person?
The first half of the course will all be virtual. As we get closer to the end of the course we’d love to do some in-person sessions – however, we will be keeping a close eye on the COVID19 situation and latest government guidelines.
Do I need to live in London to join the course?
You will need to live within commuting distance of central London to be part of the course.
