Through developing connections and honing years of industry experience, Tu-linh was able to work with Speedo International to develop and lead a global campaign for the Olympics.
Having carved out a highly successful career in retail marketing and spending years dedicated to her craft, Tu-Linh Ngo now works independently as a brand and marketing consultant, with clients including some of the high street’s leading brands: Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Jack Wills and Boden.
A contract opportunity in M&S’ marketing team led to a 6 year spell under the creative direction of Steve Sharp, who instigated the now infamous ads featuring Erin O’Connor and Twiggy. Moving though menswear and womenswear to lingerie, it was certainly quite the campaign to be part of.
With the recognition for her contribution under her belt, an industry awards event saw Tu-Linh approached by fast-fashion retailer New Look, and in a trade-focused role she expanded both her contacts and experience. A commute from Weymouth to London proved to be too much, but 18 months was plenty of time to build the confidence she needed to go out on her own: Tu-Linh was now officially freelance.
With an extensive portfolio and key industry contacts in shoot production, Tu-Linh was able to take on New Look as her first ever client, subsequently reconnecting with M&S to guide their efforts in multichannel, and working with Speedo International to develop and lead a global campaign for the Olympics.
After achieving enormous professional success and working hard to establish a reputation, Tu-Linh is not afraid to challenge herself by doing things that take her out of her comfort zone. Clearly the adventurous type, she’s found open water swimming as a way to focus on her wellbeing, clear her mind from the busy days of consulting, and switch things up between her hobby of running.
Visible Start has highlighted to her just how important mid-lifers are to fashion retail and how important it is that we communicate effectively to this age sector – to put customer values at the heart of all campaigns.Tu-Linh plans to take her learnings from the modules to her current and future clients. Now it’s her turn to instigate something infamous.
